If you go to Britain or Ireland you should visit a traditional pub. At closing time, the barman calls for "last orders", and nearly everyone runs to the bar to buy one more drink.
In most pubs you order your drinks at the bar - and pay immediately. It is not usual to tip the barman.
If friends go to a pub together, each person often buys a "round" of drinks for everyone else.
The typical drink is beer and it is sold in pint glasses. The pint (0.57 litres) is an important symbol for beer drinkers. So when Britain and Ireland changed to the metric system, they kept the pints in pubs.
